One of the essential aspects of the GSO’s work is the certification process known as the G-mark.

The G-mark Certification is a quality mark that is awarded to products that meet the organization’s specified standards and requirements. It serves as a symbol of quality and safety assurance for consumers, businesses, and regulatory authorities in the Gulf region.

Benefits of G-Mark

Obtaining the G-mark certification provides numerous benefits for manufacturers and businesses such as:

  • It enhances the reputation and marketability of the certified products, as consumers recognize the mark as a sign of reliability and adherence to stringent quality standards.
  • The G-mark facilitates trade within the Gulf region, as products with the certification can easily move across borders without the need for additional testing or inspections.

Low Voltage Electrical Equipment (LVE)

The Gulf Technical Regulation BD-142004-01 for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment (LVE) and Appliances is part of the Gulf Conformity Scheme, aiming to harmonize standardization efforts within the GCC. It promotes sector development, intraGCC trade, consumer protection, and environmental health.

“The Q” is the GSO-approved notified body for Low Voltage Electrical (LVE) products.

LVE products are categorized into “List 1” (exempt from notified body certification) and “List 2” (require conformity assessment by bodies like “The Q”).

Certification requirements include safety and EMC test reports, Declarations of Conformity, risk assessment, labels, and technical documents.

The certification process involves completing forms, review by a coordinator, verifications, testing, and issuance of the Gulf Type Examination Certificate (GTEC) or Shipment Certifications.
