A license to use the national marks of conformity, such as the Emirates Quality Mark (EQM), grants the certified company the right to display the mark on its products for a duration of three years. This certification signifies that the products meet the stringent standards set forth by the UAE for quality, safety, and environmental compliance. The issuing of this license also ensures that the facility adheres to the specified technical and safety requirements outlined for the national mark.
It is important to note that for certain product categories, such as bottled water, milk and dairy products, and energy drinks, obtaining this mark is mandatory. These products are subject to regulatory scrutiny due to their direct impact on public health and safety, and compliance with the standards is essential for market access within the UAE. Companies must consistently demonstrate their commitment to maintaining the highest levels of product quality and meet periodic assessments to retain the certification over the three-year term.
Key Points of EQM
This mark encourages continuous improvement in product quality and safety by requiring periodic audits and assessments to maintain certification.
The EQM Certificate remains valid for three years from the date of issuance.
To maintain its validity, a renewal application must be submitted one month before the certificate's expiration date.
The list of certified products can be expanded to include additional models if they are manufactured on the same production line and meet the same set of technical requirements.

NOTE: All other products can opt voluntary EQM if needed. Energy drinks and Tobacco products are exempted from EQM program

Application requirements
- A valid UAE Trade / Industry License or any proof of manufacturing unit from any country
- Declaration of Conformity
- Test report for the product, meeting the requirements of the UAE Scheme and the relevant product standard
- Quality Management System (QMS) Manual for each factory
- Factory field visit
